I made this for Qazicat in a Craftster swap. Its similar to the "Woman's Ruin" and "Clown Tin" that I made a few months back.

Artist Journal

I've decided to try my hand at making "artist journals"... this is my first page.



The color is much richer in reality. Not as stark white as it come across in this picture. The image in the center is an image transfer using Omni-Gel...which I love. It has great texture when you touch it. To make the transfer, you take an image printed on a laser printer on regular copy paper. Using a brush, paint on 3 layers of the Omni-Gel, letting each dry before you put on the next. One horizontal, one vertical & one diagonal. Once all the layers are dry, soak the image in warm water for about 10 minutes. Take it out and lay it face down. Carefully start to rub the paper off of the back of the image. Once most of the paper is off, I used a soft towel to get more of the fiber off until it gets as clean as possible. One side will be shiny & the other matte. This one is attached matte side up. I then sanded it very lightly to distress the raised areas.

The trim is reproduction "German Scrap" border and stars.

New Pieces

These are a couple of pieces I submitted for consideration for the Rock & Roll Craft Fair. I wasn't accepted so they'll probably end up in my Etsy shop in the next few days.

The sacred heart is about 12 x 9. The plaque is wood with acrylic paint and the heart is paper mache covered with mulberry paper and flames made of polymer clay.



This is a chalkboard that is around 24 inches long, I think. The skull is plaster, painted with acrylic. I haven't decided if its totally finished yet or not. It might need some glitter, because frankly, what doesn't?

Crafting for Strange Folk

I've been concentrating on pumping a lot of excellent Day of the Dead and loteria work for the Strange Folk Arts & Crafts Festival that is coming up in...YIKES...a week and a half.

Woman's Ruin

Caution - possible objectional material below...

This was also made for a swap on Craftster. Her theme was "Woman's Ruin", an idea based on an old school tattoo referred to as "Man's Ruin"...its chock full of vices.

Bring In The Clowns

I made this for a swap on Craftster. The box is a tin, like the kind Altoids come in that I painted & embellished. Its about 3x4. The book is made from cards that decorated and laced together.

For Laine

This was made for a friend of my sister's to give to her husband for Father's Day.

"I am the Bread of Life"

This is a gift for my sister to give to her sister-in-law, Amy. The little girl on the right is Amy when she was young. The girl in the center is Amy's daughter. They are wearing the same veil, which was Amy's mom's bridal veil.

Pam's Delight

This piece is my best friend's gift to her mom for Mother's Day. The baby is Oliva, you might remember her from some earlier pieces...

On the cover, the picture of her little feet is actually behind a glass slide that I trimmed with gold scrap and accented with rhinestones. Inside is more of the gold scrap & rhinestones. You can't have too many rhinestones, can you?

La Sirena

The outside dimension on this frame is a little over 6 inches tall by 8 inches wide. The inside of the mat is about 3 by 5. I'm really, really happy how this turned out and I have ideas for a series of them including one with a peacock feather and one with a woman with butterfly wings. I think there will probably be several more as well.

The shells & sand are real. The starfish just happened to fit the one she is holding just perfectly. The paper inside the bottle reads "Love Song of the Siren". I really like the finish on the frame. I managed to get the bleached out "beach" feel that I was looking for. You can't really see it in these pics, but under the ivory top coat, you can see both blue & brown peaking thru in different areas. There is glass that covers the front of the frame...I just had to take it out to get a decent picture without any "flash back" from the camera's flash.

This is a great little box I got from Hannah Grey (an awesome little online retailer). I found the picture online and new exactly what I needed to do with it. It turned out exactly how I wanted it.

Frida/Day of the Dead Cross

This is another cross I made for the same swap as the cross below. She likes bright colors, glitter, rhinestones, and Frida Kahlo. That's what she got!

Sacred Heart Cross

I made this cross for a swap on Craftster. The base color is a dark periwinkle. I made the heart out of some very lightweight air dry clay and the flames are pipe cleaners that I touched up with a bit of paint to get the color I wanted. The color of the heart doesn't show very accurately here because it has a slight metallic sheen to it...its reflects too much from the flash. Overall, its about 6 or 8 inches tall.

Heavenly Body

This is a new experiment for me. The body is about 6 inches tall and the full wing span is about 15 inches. The body is made from paper mache and I decoupaged the celestial tissue to it and then painted the areas the tissue didn't cover. I do like it, but it definitely needs more work in some way I can't yet define.
